H22 swap dies when given gas
I just recently swapped a jdm h22a (92-96) 0BD1 motor into my 91 accord. I reused the stock engine harness from the f22a4 and the H22 ran fine for a day. The next day it would hiccup and catch but die right away. especially if i give it some gas. I know it's getting spark, and I know it's getting fuel. I didn't check to see if the injectors were spraying I just took off the fuel line and there was a lot of pressure built up in the fuel rail. what could it be? Any ideas? All my grounds are grounded..
That motor is plug and play and i'm assuming you ran the 4 wires you need to add. Perhaps check for codes. what ecu are you using, what injectors... it's gotta be something
You basically gotta do a checklist of what you did and look it all over. Swaps are never easy, especially if it's your first time.

Yeah it's my first swap. I ran the vtec harness from rywire and wired it up correctly. I'm using the usdm p13 with the stock h22 injectors. Everything is plugged up as it should be. Someone told me my egr could be bad but wouldn't it throw a code? My f22 did the same thing but it would start after a few minutes of cranking it. All the H does is crank, hiccup, start then dies when I give it a little gas. I replaced the stock h22 injectors and when I released the pressure there was a whole lot of gas sprayed everywhere. I'm still using the injector resistor box and it's grounded but I dont think they're spraying as much or when they need to..
I'll check them today. I'll recheck the compression and look at the distributor one more time. I know a friend had the same problem but he just loosened up the distributor and turned it a little because it was too far one way I think.
Oh okay. Could my coil be bad? I took the spark plug out and saw that I'm getting spark. Also the h22 came in an internal coil dizzy but it was missing the coil so I just used the coil out of the f22 dizzy. Turned over fine a few times and ran but now it just hiccups and dies.

Did a compression test and it's still good. The spark was white. I took out the injectors and when I did it seemed like the fuel rail had a lot of air in it. A good bit of fuel too.
My H22 didn't come with the map on the tb, it's obd1 so I'm just using the accords' black box map sensor and its all hooked up right. Re-checked timing too. I'm still curious about the fuel rail having so much pressure. Maybe the ecu is telling the injectors not to fire as much as they should?
Bump. I had it towed to my buddies shop and they spent all day looking at the car trying to figure out why it wont run. Pulled the head checked the block, valve clearance, etc. Everything checked out, as did the wiring which has no breaks. I'm beginning to think my ecu crapped out. >.<
what ecu are you using ?
you can pop open the case of the ecu and check for burned spots
if you checked the compression and it checked out there is no reason whatsoever to pull the head unless the mechanic just wants to make some money
possible things it could be is bad ignition switch, bad ignitor, bad main relay

It's my buddies shop so everything done was free. I'm using the stock p13 ecu and even though I'm getting spark could it still be a bad ign. switch, ignitor or main relay?
I think I will tomorrow if the weather allows it. We had to look inside the motor anyways cause the guy I got it from said he rebuilt it and we just wanted to look over to make sure the seals were still good.
