Default is your h22 swap a gas hog

me and a bud just did a h22 into a 2000 si. the motor is from a 97 sh. the car has a p23 computer with a jdmshit chip. the injectors are from a 92 accord. the car drinks gas like mad. sometimes it smells like fuel and when i lift off the gas pedal the car backfires. has anyone else experienced these problems and how did you solve it. this gas bill is getting out of control.
what kind of fuel mileage do you guys with the h22 swap get

are you running:

1. aftermarket fuel pump
2. fuel pressure regulator
3. vafc

Your jdmshit chip should richen everything up a bit on stock setting if you don't have good flowing boltons. If you don't have an fpr you need to get one, and make sure you can adjust down on teh fuel pressure with it.

btw, I also get around 23-25mpg. But i drive like I got a pair, so you sissy boys may get better.

i run a p28 with various different programs on it. I run the stock injectors as well. I am running a wlabro 255lph high pressure pump as well. The best milage I have had is with a hondata p28 that I sold, it was tuned by a local guy for a friends car and got me 27 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway. Currently I run a p28 program that I made myself and it seems to average around 24-25 mpg in mixed city and highway driving.

i'm in south florida.

It sounds like the jdmshit program is rich on your setup.

Do you have i/h/e?

In order to fix it, you will need some kind of fuel tuning capability.
-Fuel Pressure Regulator w/ Gauge
-EMS
-VAFC

are all very common ways to tune your car. Get one and you can at least change your fuel conservatively. But do this at your own risk. You adjust it too far an go lean up top, you will go booom.

That header is generally thought to be pretty crappy and when you talking about just i/h/e for flow, your header is most important.

I was able to get 390 miles on one tank of gas.... this is highway though. I average about 200-250 when I run on a stock p28. When I flip my toggle switch on my p28 to run the JDMSHIT h22 race program I'll be lucky to get 170 miles to a tank.

i'm getting about 26-28 in my Del sol h22, with a p13 and a code 12 EGR..

the reason your getting shity milage is because the map on your ECU is for bigger injectors, so its making you tiny injectors run super rich, but your motor is still starving for gas with its backfiring, or you dont have enough back pressure..

bottom line get the right injectors, and it should fix your mileage

I'm running JDM h22 in my accord with stock prelude injectors and running my FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) at 50 psi for daily driving. I still get about 21-24 mpg. I suggest getting stock prelude injectors instead of using accord injectors

Why? Unless you have a monster all motor setup or are going turbo there is no reason to use 440s.

Btw, what shop was that so I can stay away from them?

Well yea, if that's all you have laying around, you can tune for those. However, that isn't what I'm talking about. All he needs is a set of used h22 injectors. I'm sure he could find those anywhere.

Besides, 440cc injectors on a near stock h22 is ridiculous. KISS.

It is in the tune, but that's still unnecessary. He doesn't need 440cc injectors unless he's doing serious allmotor or mild turbo. That shop is either
a. Doesn't know what he wants so just made an assumption
b. Doesn't know wtf they are talking about.

Either way, i'm done with this thread.
