Default wiring tunerview2 hondata module... help.

OK guys, so I've been building my first Honda for the last year and have been able to not have to post anything or even join honda-tech so far but I am completely stumped...

Im in the process of finishing my 1996 civic and am trying to wire up the hondata interface module to for the tunerview2. I can not figure out where to wire the "+" to. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a true switched ignition. I can build a motor but I am awful with wiring. I am trying to learn though.

Can some one who has successfult wired one of these up for a hondata system please give me some advice on where to tap for a true switched ignition power.

Thank you.

Did you call on Thursday? I did give you an answer regarding using the ECU power and ground as a switched ignition source.

If that wasn't you who called then you haven't contacted me about this topic.

And as always a multi-meter goes a long way in finding a switched ignition source. If you're not able to find one on your own consult a professional in your area.

There is no way you can "build a motor" and not be able to at LEAST be able to run 2 wires off the battery and put a toggle switch in. ANY source will do but the ECU ground and even power is best to use to avoid interference issues.

generally, any yellow/black wire off the ecu for ignition power and black for ground.

do you know how to use a test light?

Yeah man, that's exactly what I did. Researched the pins on the ecu and exactly what each one was. Soldered the wire in. Works like a charm. I really feel like because of the very specific power necessities of this, my original question was fair. Especially considering its my first honda build and all. But I got it in and in the lonng run it made me more knowledgable. So, thats all that matters. Thanks though.

James knows his products very well, inside and out but its not "specific requirements". its just switched power so the unit is not being powered while the car is off causing a draw (the very little amount of amps im sure that unit uses). positive and negative wiring are the absolute basics of installing electronics, I would not attempt to fault a manufacturer for maybe not being able to understand his answer just because you dont know what he meant.

there are places like www.the12volt.com which can tell you exactly what wires are generally used for audio stereo hookups.....switched power.

No man, I wasn't trying to fault anyone. If that's how it seemed that wasn't the case at all. I think.I was just making a mountain out of a mole hill and had confused myself. Its taken care of though. I appreciate the links you gave me.
