rear wiper delete or not?
what do you thonk guy's about delete the rear wiper? i mean remove all the hardware(keep it fore sure) and install a bolt on delete kit?? my R isnt full oem but a advise is always good to know
Sorry to hijack this thread but I had intentions of removing my wiper to replace the faded black plastic ring underneath it.
However, I want to say I've read stories of the back window shattering during removal. Is this possible? After removing the nut, I couldn't remove the wiper and didn't want to try additional force.

if you do decide to remove the rear wiper there is a black plug on the firewall somewhere around the battery, i think under the tray or off to the side somewhere but its the exact size as the hole left in the glass after removing the wiper, and fits perfectly.
i just figured id let you know, you could try it out just to see if you like the look and then order a delete kit or just rock the black rubber plug... thats what i did because im cheap lol. im sure most guys with DCs dont realize they are rolling around with the solution to the open hole when they remove their wipers.

Password jdm version 2.0 rear wiper delete. I have it on mine it's a sweet little part & you don't have to worry about it coming off or being pushed in
a better looking rear end/less weight buy removing this part,,so for those who have a 100%(or close) oem pristine ''R'' i will certainly not do that
I just create the thread to have advise from R owner who've done it( pro and cons) in fact that i will keep all the rear wiper hardaware i will be abble to reinstall it .but the looking is a lot sharp whitout it

I can make those delete plates, sits almost flush, been doing that for years. PLus doesn't have free advertisements and cheaper
If I had to guess, I'd say the entire rear ITR wiper assembly weighs 2-3lbs or so. It isn't all that heavy. The one on my '91 Si was twice the weight as it had much less aluminum on the motor.
It was one of those "fads" 10 years ago, but anymore I don't think it looks any better or worse without it.

Just IMO and as a fellow R owner, keep the damn wiper on there! Nobody is going to think any better or worse of your R because of it.

some of the replies make me lol... "dont want to remove the wiper on a pristine r" anything done in the wiper removal process can be undone when putting it back together and as long as its done properly nothing will have to be broken and everything will be just as "pristine" as it was before taking the wiper off...
i took my wiper off because i think its hideous. the car gets driven 3 months of the year if that, and certainly not in the rain so its a non issue for me. the wiper, motor and all related parts are tucked away in the garage in a honda bag incase i ever want to put it back its there.
Its ok to try something out, if u dont like it put it back and dont tell anybody it will be our lil secret, promise.

To risk taking the rear wiper out of a pristine 15 year old car and having tabs break, plastic crack, etc. just isn't worth the "look" or the effort.
Plus, it's an OEM piece. The rear wiper fits the era and doesn't look too bad on the car. To you it is hideous. To me, the only way it looks 100% is if you use the '97 R rear glass...otherwise you have a useless plug in the glass.
,,,remove this isnt a way to improve the look like a good looking wheel set can do,,,but we can stated that this part is 99% useless and like b16ej said its a hideous part, for the weight loll 3-4 lbs no way to see improvement in 0-60mph time range,,,yes but(not my case) in removing spare tire/hardaware we can reach 20-30lbs,,,
and yes if my ''R'' was a 100% oem ultra pristine garage queen,,i will not remove it even if i can reinstall easily,,..

I totally did it for the "look" back in the day. With the OEM plug I feel it still retains it's OEM-ness(is that a real word? haha!) and doesn't look out of place at all. Not having the wiper doesn't effect me in any negative way as it is a summer only non-rain driven vehicle. As always, to each their own.
I removed mine as well using a nice How-to by Team-Integra. It even had part numbers for the large grommet to replace it with. But, be careful you need a 23mm socket to get the assembly from the window. Keep plenty of towels around the glass, and don't use an adjustable C-wrench, as the lip of the bolt won't allow it to seat (that's how most glass "cracks" occur).

I wound up using the rear wiper washer jet as my intercooler sprayer. I was even able to keep the control on the signal arm on the driver steering column.
Enjoy.
