Yeah, I know it's just an vent, hence the name breather tube, but if liquid where to come out of there, what would it be?
Perhaps if overfilled, gears will actually spit oil up and out there... maybe that's what it's for... overfilled transmissions (which is easy when the ground isn't perfectly flat and one corner is jacked up when you're topping tranny oil off).
