what fluid comes out the transmission housing breather tube?
You know that thin, vertical tube coming out the top of the tranny, the breather tube? I've never seen liquid come out of it, but the area around it makes it look like fluid comes out of this breather tube sometimes.
What is it and what causes it? Is it just condensed moisture coming out of the tranny? Or is gear oil actually coming out of there? How?
Thanks

But if liquid where to come out of there, what would it be?
Perhaps if overfilled, gears will actually spit oil up and out there... maybe that's what it's for... overfilled transmissions (which is easy when the ground isn't perfectly flat and one corner is jacked up when you're topping tranny oil off).

I think its a vent tube, wouldnt gearbox oil/fluid act the same as any liquid at high temperature and give off a certain amount of gasses, and these have to go somewhere...hense the breather tube, but saying that you could get tranny fluid coming out of there too if it were to overheat for some reason (which i have never heard of in manual tranny's!)
