Default Problems going crazy 00 civic with d16z6!

Problems going crazy 00 civic with d16z6 "auto" So that's why you cant use a jumper harness
We didn't do this swap its a customer car that's been inside my shop for 2 weeks , When the car came in it was doing this but would never change and smoke really bad rich , someone removed the dash engine light so i scaned it and came back as code famous code p1298 i checked the harness and couldn't find any damage i changed the alt and #15 fuse and cleared the code and the problem , only other code is code 9 cyp sensor in the dist , i changed it and checked the ohms and tested the wiring to the ecu every thing comes out clear but still getting a cyp code , i tried the ckf bypass and it didnt change anything, they used the d16y7 oil pump and intake manifoild on the d16z6 engine , and its 2nd o2 sensor code also because they used the d16z6 header so only one place for an o2 sensor

Please watch video Im sure i left things out, The car been in the shop for awhile, and car keep fixxing it self before finding out whats wrong only happens under cold start for the 1st 2mins of the engine running!

So watch whole video to the end and please help already have nice Bill and its not all fixxed..

That's a violent idle - it must be missing.

So you have a Z6 engine, Y7 intake manifold. What is the transmission code? What about the ECU code?

to run an auto it has to be a p2p I assume or a p2e... you wont have a crank sensor or knock sensor for the p2p...

Which auto ECU is needed depends entirely on which auto transmission, which is why I asked for the transmission and ECU codes.

The car has the p2e auto ecu, I can drive the car and it drives fine and shifts fine, Just for the 1st 2mins of the car running you can see what its doing in the video , you cant give it any gas its smokes like its rich but wont rev at all for 2mins! , Its hard to fix because after 2mins of running it clears up on its own!!!!!!!!, But no matter what i let it sit for hours and it will do it again, After its warm i can cut it off and re start it 100times and it acts normal unless it sits for couple of hours

Its a female customer that had the engine replaced at another shop for cheap since they had the long block i would have never did that swap, They rewired a d16z6 dist to the odb2 plugs and used the y7 oil pump and intake manifold

What is the head code on the motor?

Still waiting for that transmission code.

that dizzy wiring is probably screwing it up.. u can use a y7 or y8 distributor on a z6 head just the top bolt lines up and is sufficient enough to work and not leak as long as the O ring is good

you're losing because you're throwing parts at a problem and not diagnosing it. i wouldnt pay you a dime. bother to check mechanical timing?

The D16Z6 wasn't the original motor in the car, period. The original ECU isn't going to run the Z6.

Post the head code, transmission code, and ECU code, or we cannot help you, period.

Sometimes the obvious things can be overlooked.

So it's a 00 Lx, original M4RA or B4RA auto trans and P2E ecu, with a D16Z6 long block.

I would start by taking care of the secondary O2 sensor, weld in a bung and install to clear that code.

Are the TPS and MAF plugs switched?

Is the original D16Y7 engine wiring harness being used? And did they hack it up, pinch it, etc when they installed the motor?

Is the firing order correct on the distributor? All the correct sensors in place, intact and wired correctly?

Mechanical timing correct?

Is there a catalytic converter on the car? If so is it plugged?

Is the O2 sensor that is installed the correct one for the car and ECU? Is it the primary O2 sensor or the secondary O2 sensor installed?

double check map sensor and tps sensor plugs are not mixed, verify by color code wires. The firing order could be wrong as well or the distributor. Both o2 sensors are ran up front to the headers so don't mix it up.
