Default new to the Honda world need help

I've been looking into building a Honda for a few months now & money has been the hold up. Now I've got a okay paying job & want to get started asap. I dont know much tho. I've been talking to a few of my friends and they've got ne leaning into building a b series 16a1 or 18c3/c5 I wanna drop it in a eg. Not really looking for cosmetic advice yet. Mainly just different options on motor set ups, cheap parts that last, where to start & so on. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't waste money on a b16. And b18c1's(gsr) and b18c5's(type R) swaps are pricey. I'd look into doing an ls swap. You'll learn a lot from that. An ls is either a b18a1 or b18b1 non vtec engine from an integra. They're cheap, and reliable. Then throw some boost at it. For the time/money spent a stock boosted ls is a VERY fun set up. My buddy has had one for years as his daily. 275whp of fury that i've seen put the hurting on many cars making way more power. And once you get bored with that, the sky is the limit. You can go ls/v, build the motor, go bigger with your turbo set up, i could talk for days about this. But my advice to you is don't get in too deep. Start simple, and learn all you can. Don't be afraid to ask questions but don't be afraid of research either. You can't expect to just ask for help all the time and have someone help you. What's the point in building a car anyway if you have someone else do all the work? lol. But anyway, welcome to the honda world. And welcome to being broke haha. It's very addictive, there's always more to buy, your car could always be faster. But start small. find a nice eg coupe/hatch and be on the hunt for an ls! cheap, easy, reliable. And a great platform to start from. Good luck man!
