Any of you folks know the differences between the ADM 1.6 D16A6 SOHC (88-91 CRX Si) engine and the JDM 1.6 ZC SOHC engine? Any info would be appreciated. I am replacing my original engine with one of these and I would like to know the differences, thanks.

 

same thing. nothing diff. if there was, its a slightly better cam on the JDM sohc zc, but nothing spectacular.

 

The zc single cam makes about 5-8 more horse power.

 

bah i'm very confused.. people told me many times sohc zc is 128 hp.. some said 110 some said 112 some said 118 -_- im confused. whats the exact hp/torque of the jdm sohc zc engine?? anybody know? and isnt it more similiar to the engines outta the 92-95 civic si's? but none vtec.. ? i kno those are like 125 hp vtec.. so i would think so.. anybody answer this plz?

 

dohc zc is pushing 130, sohc is arouund 110-112...nothing major

 

It's rated in PS,but comes out to 129 HP.

It looks like we all have conflicting opinions on this engine. It seems that it might have SLIGHTLY more HP than the ADM engine. Probably around 4-6hp IMO. Does anyone have hard facts on the blue printing of this engine? ie: cam, valve, intake specs? Compression specs, etc?

 

I to have a ZC SOHC in my CRX!!! anyone else has one from SO. CALI? i would like to meet you guys and learn more. cause i to am confused on the specs. pic os my engine:

 

I also have this engine and also have no idea what it puts out. Cant possibly be putting out 129 cause I still have DPFI, so 118 is the number I believe.

the sohc zc pulls pretty good.. my bros was turbo before, untill he got caught, and took it out. i have pictures of it turboed but dont know how to post it up.

 

SoHC ZC is 128 HP,,,, the DOHC ZC is 135
the SOHC wieghs 20 LBS lessthan the DOHC and revs up quicker due to the less valvetrain. ive had a SOHC ZC in my one CRX's,,, always beat a DOHC ZC and pulled mad great!! heres a SEcret!! get a carbed SOHC ZC and pull all the carburator **** off and replace with your PGMFI . the Carburated ZC has a more aggressive cam than the Fuel injected one,, so when you put the fuel injection mani on the Ex-carburated engine, it makes some nice bottom end power, and more power than the stock carbed or stock fuel injecte.. works best with intake., header and exhuast of course

 

the sohc zc is 120hp.. the sohc zc vtec is 130

also, to those of u who have it too.... what is the point of the "dual-point fuel injection?" i tried to clean my throttle body today, and i had to take off this black cover, and then there were TWO throttle inlets! jesus christ that was a bitch.... it was one on top of another one...

thats for the dohc, i've talked to honda master technicians who do this stuff. I'll ask again, but im pretty sure the sohc is closer to 110 than 120

 

I'll have to agree with altoid. I believe the ZC SOHC is around 112hp. It is rated at 120ps which ia around 112hp. But I am wondering what is actually different? must be in the head, maybe cam & valves.

 

It could just be in the porting. I know that the B18b makes more power over the B18a mainly because of the porting on the intake side. *shrug* I doubt well ever know. I have a sohc zc in my car now...and I dont think it pulls 12hp stronger than any of the d16's I've had.

I'll have to agree with the 112 claim. I have the the sohc zc and it doesn't pull any harder than the d16a6 with ported/polished head I used to have. I haven't dynoed it, but I seriously doubt it's puttin out 128.

 

ps is the same thing as horse power... as you can see on the page posted here http://asia.vtec.net/spfeature/hondaxref/index.html the b16b is rated at 185ps... the b16b is 185hp... the the h22 spec s is rated at 220ps.. the h22 S is 220hp.. my brother has a sohc zc in his crx, it sure pulls harder than the stock si motor.

 

the sohc zc has a more aggressive cam and slightly higher compression over the d16a6.

 

zc is a waste. get a b swap or just buy a single fogger.

 

Honestly, I don't think the SOHC ZC's compression is any higher than the USDM D16A6... I believe it's just the cam, and maybe in japan it was coupled with a slightly more aggressive ECU? Prolly not, I think it's just a slightly more agressive cam.
