i have a 97 honda civic with the y8 motor. when i had the engine out rebuilding i removed the cruise control. well i noticed the other day the vacuum line that went from the cruise control to the back side of the intake manifold is open. but when i plug it with my finger the engine wants to die. should i plug the hole then re-time the engine. since when it was put back together it got timed with a vacuum leak? any help would be great.

 

Plug the nipple, and then reset the ECU. You can only adjust the ignition timing when the engine idles to spec.

 

thanks ill give it a try. to reset the ecm i can just pull the fuse and wait ten minutes or is it better to disconnect the battery for a while?
