Default Procedure to check condenser fan relay

How do I jump the condenser fan relay with my multimeter. What are the settings for the multimeter to make it act as a jumper wire and should the ignition and a/c be turned on after I remove the relay and before I jump the connection inside the underhood fuse box?

Last edited by bantum1cwa; Feb 23, 2014 at 05:47 PM. Reason: To clarify that I will be jumping the relay connection not the relay itself.

Jump pins 30 and 87a of the relay, your fan should operate. If not, check the fuse and the motor by jumping battery power to the fan and providing a ground.

You can also just swap it with another relay that looks the same. Relays of the same shape all act the same.

LOL Thanks. That's exactly what I used. The fan didn't come on so I jumped the fan motor and it didn't start. I went ahead and replaced the fan assembly. Everything seems to working fine so far.

I jumped the relay and since the motor didn't start, I jumped the fan motor. It didn't start so I replaced the fan assembly and all is well. Thanks for your input.
