ABS Light Stays On in CRV- 1998- Out of Options?
I am new to the forum. I own a 1998 CRV EX with 270k miles. Recently the ABS light came on and stayed on. It comes on once the key is turned over and stays on while still and while moving.
I have searched this forum and others for ways to diagnose and fix this. Here's what I have done.
1) Checked Brake Fluid/Brakes- fine.
2) Using paper clip, connected the brown/blue wires on blue plastic ABS diagnostic port on passenger side under dash, turned ignition key on (not engine) and watched for blinking code. No blinking. ABS Light Stays on constantly.
3) Took each wheel speed sensor off each wheel and cleaned them- all "looked" ok.
4) Checked wiring connections while I was checking sensors- "looks" ok to eye.
5) Checked/changed fuses in ABS unit under hood and changed ABS relay- all fine.
6) Checked/changed fuse under dash on driver's side- looked fine but changed it anyway.
7) Tried to reset code by connecting the ABS diagnostic plug with paper clip, pressing brake, turning key on, waiting for ABS light to go off to start brake on/off sequence. ABS light never when off. I also tried to reset code by turning key on, disconnecting battery cable and leaving it over night. ABS light stays on.
Is there anything else I can try before taking CRV in to Honda for diagnosis?
Thank you for your suggestions.
