gsr pickup tube/pan, ls block
Got a question for you guys. Has anyone ran a gsr oilpan and pickup tube on an ls block with NO girdle? If so, what was done with the two legs that dangle since they cant bolt to the main caps?
I figure it would be fine if I put a couple drops of blue loctite on the pickup tube studs, but I wanted another opinion.

Yes, I've done it before. Tig welded support braces onto the gsr windage tray for the pick up tube legs to sit on. Then drilled two holes and bolted the legs of the pickup tube down to the newly welded on braces. I was working with a new windage tray from Honda so your results may vary if you try to weld on a windage tray that has been soaking in oil all its life.
I was thinking that instead of that, I could make a bracket that bolts to the ls main caps (like the ls pickup tube) and the gsr pickup tube could bolt to the new bracket. That way I would keep the ls windage tray instead of using the gsr windage tray
There's definitely more than one possible way to make it work. I know when I was trying to decide how to go about it I had a few different ideas running through my head.
Yeah I think I might see about making a simple bracket to mount the pickup tube. The only reason is for some free extra capacity, though others have said theres not much reasons since the ls pan is baffled ok.
The engines gonna see 8000+ and realky twisted mountain roads on occasion, so my thought is the extra capacity will help with keeping the engine from starving.
Ive also seen weld in baffle plates for the stock pans, so that might be an option
