What trans fluid to run in b series liberty face plate gears
Relight lightweight shockproof, Torqo Mtl prob be good fluids it's still stock gears.
If you don't mind me asking what the face playing set you back and turn around time.

What alot of guys dont realize is that thick **** wont circulate properly. 75-90 is gear oil its thick. Its not going to lubricate the needle bearings properly. They suggest that **** assuming you will be tearing down the trans and replacing bearings etc periodicly. The oil galleys are very tiny the thick stuff wont circulate properly. Thats one reason hondas stuff is thin like water. Plus less resistance for fuel economy/hp
Faceplating just gets rid of the dogteeth and replaces the with larger pieces. Trans fluid has no effect on that.
Faceplating the oem helical gears doesnt change anything as far as the fluid is concerned. If it was a dog box with straight cut gears then maybe consider running thicker fluid but knowing it will require more maintenance or at least checking over. Still dont think id run gear oil though
Gear oil is good to use for high temp applications like rear diffs etc. Or in some trans which were designed to use the thick stuff. Honda trans lubrication system is designed to use thin stuff
The face plating cost me $700 without any metal enhancements and they assembled the gearset for me plus shipping and your gonna need the speed factory scha with this which is $400
I'd use Torco RTF or Motul gear oil.
The thicker stuff like shockproof Redline has great stiction, which is why I like it, but you want something with more fluidity to actually cool the gears, especially OEM ones.
I hope you plan on removing 5th and installing a brace.

I hadn't really thought about removing 5th gear for a brace this is for a all motor application, thought that the brace was for high hp turbo cars which usually have the shaft separation issue that make like 700 hp+

Chris I agree but the redline lightweight has more fluidity. I wouldnt run standard redline shockproof with stock gears.
Add a T1 Shifter and you are golden.. I never have to worry about shifting with that setup.. The T1 shifter and Speed Factory SCHA basically shift itself into the correct gears.
True that, it's pretty expensive..There was a guy out at IFO a month ago who just did the Liberty Face Plated gear set, had the Speed Factory SCHA and did a 1-2-1 using stock shifter..
I am sure plenty of people use the OEM shifter with no problems and this guy probably just had bad luck, he literally just finished the tranny and was running it the first time..

Yeah I ran my stock CTR tranny for 7 years 500 plus horsepower.. Sold it got a GSR trans, Mfatory Differential, Liberty Face Plated gear set, Speed Factory SCHA, Liberty Cuff, T1 shifter and solid mounts.. wish I would have done it years earlier LOL..
Torco RTF....I run a face plated setup and blew 4th to pieces on Honda MTF on the dyno. Turbo car not all motor but still better to be safe than sorry. I'm running Torco RTF in my street car with stock trans + many dyno sessions and it still shifts like butter
the Honda MTF they now sale is not the same as it use to be they removed alot of the friction modifiers the help the problems they where having with the 2001+ cars, for oem gear sets/syncro we run one qt Honda MTF and the other QT some type of synchromesh weather it be Pennzoil, Redline or RP the Honda syncros need the thin fluid and friction modifiers to operate properly.
As far as face plated gears viscosity can be higher and you want it to be higher to cushion the dog engagement, plus with something thicker than Honda MTF it will stick to the gears I would suggest redline light or super light weight, but don't let the viscosity fool you even thow they are rated at 75W140 and 75W90 they still have a low fluid friction and will make it to the bearings fine

im sure torco rtf works great. so does Honda mtf.
trans fluid is not the reason you broke a gear on the dyno. I don't know of many guys "bangin" gears under load on the dyno
