Need Help! Car died on the freeway...Doesn't want to start
Hi guys, I have a little problem, I was cruising in my '90 si on the freeway and suddenly the car started decelerating, like I let off the gas. I pressed the clutch and the engine stalled instantly
. I tried to get the car to start but the engine just turns and doesn't want to go...
Timing belt is OK , I hear a vacuum noise from the engine bay when i put the key on the ON position (louder then usual)
The fuel pump seems to work, I can hear it when i put the key on the ON position
I checked the lines around the intake manifold and none of them are disconnected...
Any ideas?

It's shot! Sell it to me really cheap
! Maybe you got bad gas. Or how about the fuel filter. where is the Vacumn noisy coming from? you shouldn't have any.

The noise is coming from around the intake manifold-fuel rail...
How hard is it to change the fuel filter?
Or is this something I should let the mechanics check...
Bad gas is very unlikely...
Problem is I can't move the car much...

check if theres any fuel leaks.
check that all ur ignition components seem to be in right place and working properly
basically a car needs, air/fuel/spark to run
check that u got fuel and spark working....
then we can start norrowing down whats the cause
look at the ecu... under pasanger footwell. put the key on ON and tell us how many times the red light blinks... that usually tells us where the problem its...
check for blown fuses.. check that all the gnds are in good shape....

Fuel filter is not that bad,
Unscrew your gas cap
Unscrew the upper bolt (service bolt) on the right side of the fuel filter
Some gas might come out on that last step so watch eyes, use a towel
Now just unscrew both of the larger nuts, left and right, and you'll
be able to pop the filter up and replace. Make sure you tighten everything
including service bolt back to spec, gas leaks are

Checked the tubing... seems like there is a leak on the big (1/2-3/4 in) hose above the EACV. It doesn't flow out but merely gets "humid". I couldn't find a hole...
Could such a small thing cause my car not to start?
Excuse my syntax, english is my 2nd language....

a sort of common problem with older civic models like yours is that the cam has a tendancy to sheer off the keyway and/or frezze in the head. Take off the valve cover and turn the crank by hand and see if the cam spins with the cam gear. If your cam sheered off the keyway then unfortunately your head is junk, it sucks fat nipple, it happened to mew/ my 86
good luck man

My camshaft turns OK...
How do I check if there's fire (dizzy)?
I unscrew a sparkplug and check it while cranking?

Check the distributor cap and rotor and the plugs and wires. On my 1st gen B16, about a month after install, the screw that holds the rotor on had backed off and left me stranded.
Didn't take long to figure it out, but I still could have done without the experience..

its probley the igniter, take of the cap, rotor button if the igniter is brown it may be the problem,Honda sells the up dated igniter it is black
2 things to check..im a honda tech and this is a common problem in the shop... 1.fuel pump relay ... located under dash on drivers side.. (small grey box)
2.your distributer (the actual distributer, not just the cap) is burn out... the easiest way to check this, pull out a plug and touch the tip onto the block. and give the engine a half crank ... look for spark.... if there is no spark get ready to spend some money on a new distributer

Distributer is dead!
Replace coil or Replace Ignition
If you do not know how to do this, leave it alone, and buy a used crx distributer!

To check:
Pull 1 spark plug wire from the cylinder let someone try to crank the car on and you will not see any spark tryin to hit the cylinderwall, or take distributer cap off and try to crank, no spark its the dizi!

I have one thing to add.
IF you have no fuel pressure, and your fuel pump still turns on the little diaframe inside MIGHT be gone. I have had that happen to me with my old datsun 240 Z

Well i took the cap of the dizzy and the coil was melted on the tip, I switch the coil (spare parts
) and bought new cap/rotor...
Just finish installing everything and
no start...
I found someone selling a whole SI dizzy so i'll probably pick it up...
I still want to change my fuel filter cause I've been running low on fuel these past weeks (hey, school costs alot!)
By the way, what is the igniter?

the igniter is the rectangular black or brown piece inside the distributor, under the black plastic cover. It amplifies the signal that fires the coil. It's most likely that's your problem...
