2004 Civic rear-ended....will they fix it?
First post, wish it wasn't on these terms.
Anyway, I got rear-ended on the interstate Friday and I'm curious about the extent of damage. The trunk won't close...the latch is missing by a couple inches. I didn't see any obvious damage underneath, except the spare tire well is crumpled. My car has 155k miles and an existing dent in the left quarter. I put a fresh set of tires on it two weeks ago ($350), and it's pretty sound mechanically. My brief research shows the value at $3500-4000. What do you think...will the insurance company total it out?

I've never parted a vehicle out before. What would a good buy-back amount be on this car? I'm going to the local Honda dealer tomorrow to start the insurance process, just want to have my ducks in a row. Thanks for the input thus far!
don't buy it back then also if you feel they aren't offering you enough decline the offer. I had to get a lawyer involved in a case a few yews back but by the 3rd offer I got what I wanted and the lawyer fees weren't that bad
Insurance wise, yes its totalled. I wouldnt buy it back just get a good offer from your insurance company. Take the tires off, and go to discount tire (after the inspection) and take off your new tires for some used ones. You can usally get them for free or very cheap, just tell them you need them for rolling the car around. Dont even have them balance the tires just mount them and go.

I dropped it off at Honda earlier today. They are pretty backlogged and it will probably be a few days before I hear anything. I did ask the Progressive adjuster today about their "total loss" policy....repairs more than value of the car. They put me in a 2013 Camry for a rental, could be worse.
. Will update when I know something more.
