Well I have a CX, and from the only two articles I could find, they said the DX has a tachometer wire, just not an actual tachometer gauge. I don't know if this stands true for a CX though.

yup regardless if it came with a tach or not
same except I shed 100,000 km's lol was worth it tho even if the car was stock I hated no knowing especially when my clutch started slipping, or if I got stuck in the snow didn't want to be bouncing off the rev-limiter trying to wiggle out.

I put an SI cluster into my 95 Canadian CX to get a Tach. Added 18K to my odometer but that was a small price to pay.
The connectors are all the same for the series, 92-95 clusters interchange (EG).
So in your case as long as it's a 92-95 cluster (EG) it will fit your 92 Hatch (EG).
