shifter not going side to side cables good

shifter not going side to side *cables good*

It's a m2b4, I pulled the cable off the trans and it moves freely, but the lever on the trans doesn't, time for a new trans or what should i look at?

The levers won't move at all? Not even of you manually grab them and try it?

the shifter mechanism cover is removable, take it off and I'm sure the issue will be apparent

popped the cover off , moved fine, reinstalled, goes through all the gears and then gets stuck in reverse.
