Couple Question about my Accord from Hell
1993 accord SE. I've done extensive amounts of research and cant seem to get a fitting answer, maybe you all can help!
So my car vibrates extremely bad when Im coming to a stop and then when Im actually stopped. Obviously Im thinking motormounts, but the vibration stops completely the SECOND I give it any gas. Literally the same second folks. Is this a symptom of the mounts? Could it be a misfire? If so how would I find this?
Also, I hear a knocking sound when Im coming to a stop aswell ( only when slowing down and eventually stopping). It is very noticable and seems to knock pretty fast. It doesn't happen all the time. Any thoughts ?
My last, and probably hardest to word question is that on the fuel filter, which is located on the left side of the engine all the way in the back ( if your standing in front of car) .There is a Fuse box of some sorts with the wires coming out of it that go into the throttle body. It seems as if I have to take those off to move the box to remove the filter. Is this harmful at all? Any slick way to remove them? It seemed futile last time I tried.
Thanks in advance, I wish I were more knowledgeable

You really can't tell if the engine is misfiring or not ?
Just undo the two 10mm bolts that hold the black box to the chassis and push it to the side gently. No big deal at all. Make sure to use a 14mm flare wrench on the fuel filter line bolt. Don't try to use an open ended wrench as it will only strip it.

Definitely sounds like a misfire to me. so you know check the usual distributor, plugs, wires all that stuff. Do you know in which general area the knock is coming from? Also just curious, what made you call it "accord from hell"?
If it runs fine in the higher RPM is is more than likely not a misfire and probably has more to do with your IACV, FITV, EGR, O2 sensor or throttle body being dirty. or your timing could be a wee bit off at idle.
There is a sticky in the FAQ on how to clean your IAC, FIT, throttle body and EGR ports.
When was your balance shaft & timing belt last replaced? As well, when was your last tune up? You can check your distributor cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs for wear and/or dirt. Your spark plugs can tell you a lot about the working condition of your engine. Pull all 4 and see what they look like.

Hey ghost- I bought the car a little over 6 months ago, and I have no information on if or when the timing/balance was ever changed. Car has 185k miles on it, and the original owner said it was rebuilt at 100k. I call shenanigans though.
I checked that FAQ write up, i'll do that soon. I have a question on that though- I feel like I remember reading somewhere that the FITV is reverse threaded? So to tighten it you actually turn it left? Clarification would be nice on that.
I changed the plugs when I first got the car obviously, but not sure how to check for a misfire... I used my buddies stethoscope with a hollow piece of metal tubing on the bottom, and valves farthest to the left on the engine block are making the different knocking sound. Im thinking I need a valve adjustment?

check the rear motor mount vacuum line. it may be damaged. also inspect the rear motor mount itself. what are are describing sounds like a classic case of a failed rear mount. the front may need inspection as well.

It really sounds like bad mounts bud...but cleaning the TB wont hurt either. Does it vibrate worse as you put more of a load on the vehicle? (Ex. A/C on high with Headlights on w Highbeams)
Clearly inspect your mounts, ive used a block of wood (short 2x4) on top of a low-profile jack to "lightly" apply pressure to different areas underneath the motor/transmission to inspect/find cracked/torn/worn mounts.
For the Throttle Body pick up some carb cleaner and a coarse non-metal bristle brush have some one hold down the accelerator (or use a cut broomstick from the front of bottom seat cushion to the pedal if no one can assist) and go to town cleaning that TB. The car will hesitate to start, just cycle your starts like 2-3 trys at about 3 secs on the key normally gets it running if its really dirty and depending on how much cleaner you use.
Keep us updated on your progress with this issue. Hope this helps.

Hey all, thanks for the responses thus far. So far I have changed the front dogbone mount, aswell as the passenger side mount( which honestly didn't look to to bad). I have yet to even look at the rear mount. It looks like such a pain in the *** to get too, and I don't know how to check the vacuum line. Worth having a shop do it ?
Also my knocking sound my buddy told me is my valves needing to be adjusted.
