Found rust how to stop it/ fix? ( Pic)
Hey guys I have a 01 ITR. Found some rust near the rear passenger quarter panel. It was underneath those rubber strips.
Also have some underneath the rear bumper, i think i should get it all fixed before it gets worse!

My question is, is there any way i can stop it? or should i get it fixed? Planning on keeping the car for a while its a ITR!
Thanks~

Like cancer, rust needs to be cut out, all of it, and replaced with new metal.
The best possible way to do it is to replace the quarter panel, all of it, not cheep at around $500-$600 a side just for the quarters, plus pain and labour.
You said it is an ITR, so did you put the arch protectors on or were they thre when you got the car?
Just asking because from what I understand, the ITR did not com stock with them?
You are talking about the rear wheel arch, right? 94

yeah when i have the car it came with the wheel arch protectors, took them off though because i saw so much **** that they were holding.
To stop it i have to completely cut all off the rust? I can use acid or something to kill the rust?
thanks

Even if I do cutout the metal, where will i find a new quarter panel? and the rust behind the trunk, they can just cut it out and weld new metal not to **** about that.
But can i use acid to stop the rust? or no

Also do you guys suggest that the arch covers be removed to? I just figured because it was holding a lot of dirt. But not sure though!??

Think of rust like cancer, there really isnt a cure. Shure you can stop it, but the damage is still there. You HAVE cut/remove panel from the vehicle and replace it. End of story. If its really small you can cut out the surrounding area atleast 2/3 inches around the rust, fabricate a new panel and weld it in. Bodyfill, sand flush and paint. Only way to fix rust. By the time you buy REAL rust inhibitor, its gonna cost a good chunk of what it would to fix and look like ****.
And ditch em... That and trim, flush spoilers, anything atached to the Org. Paint. It retains water and salt from winter, if you ever peel off trim or wheel arch covers on an older, driven car theres almost always rust. id say fix it and maintain the paint. Wax a couple times a year, car washes in winter to clean off salf and general good paint maint. Practices will almost guarantee a rust free car.
