ITR spotted on Phila NBC News 2-13-14!!
Delaware\Pa had a heavy snow day yesterday (2/13), so I was off and watching the NBC news between 10:30 and 11:00 am. Their news crews were reporting from various snowy locations, and one was a Montgomery County town I didn't catch the name of.
The camera shot was high (from a snow plow truck cab) and it showed a PY ITR parked on the side of a very snowy main street. It was a good 10-15 shot of the rear, and the driver was starting it as heavy, black smoke came out of the tail pipe. The snow was just high enough to block out the license plate.
The truck drove slowly past the ITR, as it was most likely stuck where it sat.
Just wondering what the odds are that the owner may be on this forum!?
There was no sunroof, it had the ITR wing, etc., so I think it was a real one.
Odd, but that made my day, as I never see any on the road in Delaware anymore...

Thats pretty cool to see on the news. I dont know if any of you have seen that show scared straight, its about "badass" kids that take a jail visit and get all scared, any way i was watching it one night and when they were doing the little background stories on this one kid, it showed them walking down the street and there was a CW itr parked on the side of the street. Had white jdm R wheels on it. Believe it was in ohio

i had heard years ago that they could be ordered with the moon/sunroof as an option and since i had been working in the business and had seen other manufacturers that operated as such i figured it was probably true. thing is, there were probably only a handful that were ordered as such because people were probably already paying 4 or 5k more than sticker price just to get the limited production aspect, they would have to wait longer to get it too so it might just not have been a feasible option given the way the market works..

All ITRs arrived off the boat the same exact way. And there were no "port installed" sunroofs available. And there was no accessory sunroof.
Any sunroof installs were instigated by the dealers themselves--either in their shop or some 3rd party shop. Even if somehow they were able to use an OEM GSR sunroof--that does not mean it was a factory option.
False. These cars all came over from Japan stamped with a badge number and ready to sell. There were no optional changes. Maybe floor mats or some small accessories, but no sunroof.
However, I stand by my original statement in that if you walked into an Acura dealer in 1998 to purchase an ITR and you wanted it with a sunroof/moonroof, the dealer would install one. It would probably not be an OEM part, but it would be installed by the dealer in their shop before you received the car. It's purely a matter of $$$ for the dealer. If you want a sunroof they will install one and mark the car up accordingly. Hence why I said you could "special order" an ITR with a sunroof because even though the Honda factory would not send one from japan with a sunroof the individual dealer would make it happen because it means more money for them. They did the exact same thing with the Honda Fits.
Factory option was a poor choice in wording on my part. I'll admit that and take my lumps
