Default putting a b18a head on a b20b bottom end

im putting a shaved b18a head with crower cams and crower springs, also ported. I am using it for a race car. what do you suggest I use for head gasket? I need one for high heat temperature. and also the computer is chipped for a custom fuel curve and fuel cutoff at 7800. will I have to change the computer once I change the head? and what should I do to the computer?

Just get an s300 instead of these chipped base map's ECU's. OEM,Cometic or golden eagle all make great HG's and I use my oem one still Full time attack track car.

It's an EMS have a look I use one and love It best thing I bought for my car http://www.hondata.com/s300.html

Never hurts to have some extra insurance ppl say you're supposed to chance the stock ones out everytime you pull the head off so idk it's personal pref imo. I've use to reuse mine 6-7 times no failures but it's your call

ok so i guess i need you to define race car.

whats your compression and connecting rod bolt situation?

you need to use a vtec 22 tooth water pump if you are going to rev above 7500 lets say.

i would use an oem b20 headgasket personally. not that expensive and will hold up.

nothing wrong with getting arp headstuds. id feel much more comfortable using them multiple times as opposed to oem headbolts. if you are running higher compression like well into the 11's and above i would torque the arps in 3 steps at 25-50-80 ftlbs. i do this on my and my friends boosted motors and it works great no head lift at higher pressures

above all, dont run a chip. its not 2002 anymore. neptune or crome will work fine, as will hondata s300 if you have a few extra hundred bucks. i would first figure out who will do the tuning and see what programs they prefer to use

Hondata s300 is a great choice for tuning but I would strongly recommend neptune if you can find a tuner who will use it or if you are planning to diy the tune.

compression is 165 each cylinder, rod bolts are stock. i have been using the chip for 5 years now and never had any problems. i was just wondering if i should just refresh the computer more then anything.

Your going to have to actually tune the car now since your adding cams in. A base map isn't going to have the required fuel/timing depending on how aggressive the cams are.

You only get a fraction of the potential value of your mods without a tune. Plus there is a reliability issue. I like Neptune RTP/S300 because I can street tune to keep things safe and then spring for a full tune once I've got enough mods to make it worthwhile.

Neptune + A tunerview = win. Never had an issue with mine and its been worth every penny.

And if for some chance you have a PR8 head from a B20Z use it, if i remember right it flows allot better then any other non vtec head.
