This morning while driving down the highway, I had my cruise set to 65mph. It randomly shut off and then the gas pedal went dead when I tried to get back up to speed. I pulled to the side of the road and did not shut off the car but sat there for about 5 minutes. After that, and without using the cruise control, it ran perfectly fine. lights didn't flicker, it didn't overheat at all, it was -15 degrees outside but i let the car warm up for about 30 minutes before leaving my house. I had driven on the highway for about 12 miles before this happened. what could have happened?

 

If it wasn't for the gas pedal issue, I'd say there is something with your brake pedal (since that's the shutoff "switch"), but this is really weird. Bump for info.

 

Check wiring for TPS for any corrosion
