There is no rear mount or T-bracket for this swap so you'll need to fab up a bracket as well. Then you'll have to try to figure out how to control the automatic B-series tranny, generally they have seperate TCM (OBD1 B16As don't, but as far as I know all others do) that the Civic lacks, theres around 40 wires that need to be run from the ECU and transmission to the TCM.

The best advice I can give you is do not do this swap. Find a 5 speed B-series tranny and other associated 5 speed swap components and swap the car to a 5 speed, its considerably easier than trying to keep it an automatic.

Search for the auto to manual conversion thread. There is also a thread in the FAQs on what and how to do the b series swap.

An automatic B16A in a 5th gen is a lot more doable than in a 6th gen which is what that quoted post was talking about, however it's still a pain in the ***, requires some fabrication and will be dog *** slow since the only way to get any power out of a B16A is with a close ratio 5 speed and revving it high. The one thing it has going for is for the B16A only it doesn't require a separate TCM to be wired in. It is still much easier to just swap in a manual though.

If he's willing to do it than he can head on over to ffsquad. They have the pinouts on where everything needs to go. That is all that can be said about that because the mount will have to be fab.

I don't believe in shooting someone down on something they want to do, just need to point them in the right direction and they will have to figure everything else out themselves. If he wants to keep automatic than so be it. He'll learn the advantages/disadvantages of having automatic vs 5spd standard. GL OP.

I believe I have read about there being Auto B16 trannies from Japan, I may be wrong though. That would fix the gearing problems maybe?

There are, and that's what you need, nothing else works with JDM B16A automatic ECU.

It doesn't really fix the gearing problem though, In an effort to make highway RPMs liveable each gear ends up being pretty long. Then you have to deal with the trans not shifting at the redline, and the fact that the engine itself actually makes less power due to the weaker cam Honda put in the B16As they paired with automatic transmissions.

It can and has been done before with some fabrication but there really isn't any point to doing it.

^ To clarify for the OP: Did a 5G Civic with a B16 and Auto transmission use a completely different trans bracket(s) and/or mount than a D-Series Auto 5G Civic? I.e., D-series Auto trans bracket =/= B-series Auto trans bracket?

Yes. And to prove this point you can look at the auto to manual swap mounts for civics and integras, they're different even though the stock upper transmission mount for the 5 speed version of both of those cars is the same.

Roger. And what you're saying is there's no such thing as an Auto D- to Auto B- adapter mount. OP is stuck fabbing one himself.

Yes, the end of the trans is basically touching the passenger's side frame rail. If you compare the chassis to an automatic Integra (remember that all the other mounting points are identical) I think you'll find the passenger's side framerail is action pushed over a little further and/or the upper bracket is shaped differently. If it was just the bracket it's not so bad, you can drill the spot welds out and weld on the Integra bracket. Rear T-bracket will have to come from a '94 - '01 automatic Integra.

It'll work, my cousin had an auto b-series in an eg coupe. only problem was the shop who did the swap for him did not wire everything up probably so the car shifts like a retard. They did not wire in the tcm that was needed, or straight to the point they couldn't or didn't know how. Way to go SONIC BOOM OF METAIRIE.

That's the one nice thing about the B16A auto trans + ECU, it doesn't have a separate TCM. That particular trans just uses two lockup solenoids the same as the D-series.

I did a little part number hunting, and this is what I came up with:

A JDM EG6 with AT B16 has the following part numbers:
60831-SR3-J00ZZ - Bracket for Right Side transmission mount (welded to body) - Found on 94-01 AT Integra
50805-SR3-981 - Trans Mount - Found on 92-93 AT Civic, 94-01 AT Integra
50825-SR3-980 - Trans Mount Bracket - Found on 92-95 AT Civic, 94-01 AT Integra
50827-SR3-N81 - Engine Rear Trans Mount Bracket - Not found in North America

Take home msg:

For right trans mount: Cut trans bracket off AT Integra, weld on to Civic ... after that, should be able to re-use D-series mounts if your Civic is 92-93 (and probably 94-95 too), otherwise use one from AT Integra.

For rear engine/trans mount: Make sure you get it with the JDM B16 AT motor.

Does a 5 speed D series tranny mount into a auto d series engine bay? without fabrication, just drops in?

The trans needs to be an M24A or S24A, no other transmission will work. The ECU needs to be an OBD1 automatic JDM P30. Intermediate shaft needs to be from a '94 - '01 Integra LS automatic. Axles can come from any '94 - '01 Integra.

As I said though I would seriously reconsider this swap. Assuming you can get everything installed correctly I think you're going to be very underwhelmed by it.

Unless OP has a disability, of course. Which was the case with the thread linked in post #15 above (person was paralyzed).

Not on a 5th gen, the automatic bracket welded to the frame sits up about 2" higher, and the bracket is either a 1/2" ahead or back, I can't remember which way anymore. On a 6th gen you just need to swap the bracket bolted to the top of the transmission.

So whoever swapped the tranny in my car from auto to manual had to rig up a new mount?

Either that or they twisted the trans into position and your engine now sits at a weird angle and eats passenger's side axles.

what kind of angle? like vertical (one side of engine sits higher than the other), or horizontal (one side of engine sits closer to firewall than the other).
