Icon2 OBD2B to OBD2A Civic

Okay so I'm looking for some helpful information from anyone who has done something like this. I have a 96 CX hatchback with the original d16y7 in it. And I may be picking up a d16y8 out of a 99 EX. The guy will give me anything I need for the swap (engine, trans, engine harness, gauge cluster). Is there anything else I need to do this swap? Am I going to need the dash harness from the 99 civic? Or is there any other way to go about doing this? Thanks for the help.

You'll also need to wire up the secondary 02 directly to the ECU if you use the EX harness.

If you decide to do this swap get everything. You'll need the correct header and cat convertor, o2 sensors are different from y7 to y8 so you'll need them as well. As Hero said you'll need to wire in the secondary o2 sensor. When you pull the exhaust you'll see why, no it is not included with the d16y8 engine harness.

What if I got the floor/body harness out of the 99 EX? I daily a 98 EX so I know the secondary o2 is under the car. Id also be buying new o2 sensors.

I see what you're saying now.. But I have to ask.. Is the 99 EX engine harness plug n play with the 98 CX cabin harness? Isnt one of these models one or two piece harnesses? I want to make sure I get anything I need to do this.

Alright. Thanks Hero. This guy has a whole 99 EX thats local to me and he said I can have whatever I want from it. So we shall see what happens. I already have the 98 hatch gutted so it shouldnt be much of a problem.

I bought a wrecked 99 ex about five years ago and moved everything over to my 98 cx. Engine harness and the harness that runs along the firewall for that secondary o2. Might as well switch out to the 99-00 dash/climate control while your at it.

Thats what I was thinking. Do you need the heater core and fan from the 99-00?
