Default 2010 crv exl dead battery

Bought the car new- went away on vacation for a week, got back dead battery-hmm maybe left something on? jump car, no problems go away on vacation a year later for a week come back-dead battery. read about Honda batteries not being the best-replace battery, go away on vacation for a week come black-dead battery. Only common denominator I can think of is car alarm has been set every time. When car sits at home for long periods it isn't set. This time battery was so dead door locks wouldn't even work. When car was jumped alarm wouldn't shut off right away. Anybody else have or hear of this problem?
Thanks

stating the obvious, somethings causing a drain when the car is turned off. Unfortunately You're going to have to do the annoying work of detective and try and find that.

another question. You bought it new in 2010 or new to you just recently?

owned the car since it was new. This happened a week ago. jumped it that once to get it started and it's been fine ever since. It only seems to happen when car sits for extended period of time with doors locked, Like you say how many things would be drawing while the cars sits and you would maybe have to wait a week each time. I think it has something to do with the alarm. Only other thing I can think of is we had remote start installed same year we bought the car and I wondering if the interface is causing the problem. That's why I'm trying to find out if it's a "common problem" or if anything like this has come up before.

Check to see how much your car is draining when shut off. Most cars drain the battery over time, due to keeping presets/alarms powered. Check yours and compare to factory spec. If you are draining at the rate the factory specs state, then it's simply a misfortune of a weak battery. If not, well you know why it's being drained.

I never thought it mattered until I worked on a friends jeep who had electrical issues. It was pulling 5 times to factory spec and would kill the battery in hours. We found the fault in a broken wire and fixed it up. It was just a lot of messing about with a multimeter to resolve it.

Battery has been replaced. bought the biggest most powerful I could fit in there because I was afraid my wife might get hung up at work. I'll probably take it dealer. I couldn't tell you the last time I used my volt/ ohm meter.
thanks
