Need Help: Any 97 ITR sold in Florida ...ever? Will pay for proof?
Do you know of any 97 ITRs sold in Florida in the last year or so? or even EVER?
This might be hard to believe but my 97 ITR was stolen from me, and I've been battling with State Farm who claims that the vehicle (118k miles, pictures here) is only worth a little under $7,000.
The hard part to believe is that we've been battling over this since car was stolen on Thanksgiving. Not Thanksgiving 2013, Thanksgiving 2012.
I've given them pictures (http://www.flickr.com/photos/72646955@N03/) testimonials from the mechanic who looked at it, and even settlement forms from OTHER HondaTech users who have had their 97 stolen, AND insured by statefarm (Thanks to Pinkie, who got $17k for his 97 ITR from State Farm).
_MY_ StateFarm agent insists that because those weren't Florida cars, they don't apply. Sigh.
So, to that end, I'm trying to find proof of a 97 ITR being sold in the State of Florida. I'm patient enough to wait until one sells. I can't believe this company is being this shitty over this, so I refuse to take a $5-$10k hit over their shittiness.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks so much. I will even paypal you $25 just for finding proof of one. Thanks.

One of the Barton twins had a '97 ITR and they both lived in Florida. I believe this car relocated to the PNW eventually.
ITRCA.com maybe your best bet. I have seen a couple 97 that sold for $10k, but they are not located in the Florida area

Weird to see it in that album, as I'm sure it is to see it in my thread. So 188k miles in that album, but 144k miles when you were selling it?
Insurance companies usually go for the GS-R value because there really isn't a "Type-R" for them to go off of.
Have you tried getting an appraiser and arbitration? The downside is if the appraiser (not sure if it's independent or hired by insurance) comes up with a value that's not what you want, that's what the insurance company will pay out assuming that you did agree to binding arbitration.
Frak thieves and insurance companies.

They may be going with the NADA car value.

According to this it is valued at 7200. It really depends on how much you are willing to fight and how much your insurance is willing to work with you.
There is a 97 white R for sale in south florida and the seller is asking 14k. Dont know if this helps but best of luck.

From: Howcome we park on driveways, and drive on parkways?
This is why when I insure my car im going to use someone like Haggerty. You agree on a value of your car and pay your insurance based on your agreed value. Which they say does not depreciate and is guaranteed. Granted some people who daily drive or use their ITR alot more than I plan on using mine will most likely not be able to do this since this is a limited/estimated mileage per year and collector/leisure insurance.
I went through basically all of the steps except signing the policy and my 01 with 87k miles was accepted at 15.5 with 3,000 miles or less a year.
Know what your policy will pay in the instance of tragedy.

Yeah, I could help you out with a '97 sold just this past year from OH to NJ that had mileage like yours...but saying that it *must* be a Florida car is just downright idiotic on the part of State Farm.
I would certainly take the argument over your agent's head. The very fact that you can't find proof of an ITR sold in Florida should be a tell-tale of the rarity of the car.
On a side note...State Farm is not what they once used to be. I just ditched them this year (after 20+ years) because their premiums were too high once I started shopping around and their coverage was less than what I could get cheaper somewhere else. They have to recoup the $$ they pay all those celebrities for commercials somehow I suppose.

I have the For sale ad saved to my computer for the 97 R I purchased back in 2010 and sold in 2011. Not sure if I have my for sale ad. Might find it if you search under my name.

Those links above will help you on unfair settlement practices in FL. In WA we have that too.
The insurance company is suppose to indemnify you for your lost meaning they will have to pay you actual market value in order for you to take that payment and go out and buy the exact same vehicle prior to your loss minus your deductible.

Don't worry, I have zero intention of "coming after it." It's clear that the shell is in a good home. But wtf really? Not even a phone call from State farm?
Uh, extremely weird to see it. Sorry I'm going to need a day to sort through this one. State Farm assured me they wouldn't sell the body while we were sorting through this.

Seems like one of those battles that will never get resolved the way you are hoping for, especially after this long. I actually saw the thread you started about this a year ago with the same questions.
But if you have any more info or pics of the car feel free to post it.

Have you contacted a lawyer yet? If not, you probably should at this point (I would have done so a loooong time ago, personally). You now have the testimony of the current owner (of your old car) as well.
It would be money well spent. You should also perhaps contact any local media agencies to see if they'd be interested in running a story.
Here is one in Deltona, FL for $14,000. Didn't want to link to another forum so just copied the text.
