90 civic timing belt issue?
Yesterday while on way to work, my 1990 Honda Civic shutdown on the highway whilst I was doing about 70 mph. There was a pop almost like
a backfire and the car coasted to a stop. I checked for fuel line or pump
leak, none found, have plenty of spark. Starter turns but engine wont
start. Engine has plenty of oil, didn't overheat I got underneath the car
to check for any major leaks or damage none found. I got my 17mm
socket and the engine turns easily. I pulled my distributor cap off and bumped the starter but the rotor goes nowhere. Is this a sign of a sheared
gear on the distributor or possibly the timing belt breaking. Because of my work schedule, I have not yet had the time to pull the cover off or remove the distributor completely to see if the distributor is the problem or if worse the timing belt and or valves are the issue. Any help going forward to guide me to find the problem would be greatly appreciated.

your distributor test confirms the belt is gone.
it happens.
the engine is non interference so 99% the engine is fine. just replace the belt.
and its a good idea to replace the water pump and tensioner, while youre in there but not mandatory.
