Key was stolen, have a few questions
My keys were stolen last night from my work, and now I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to have a replacement key made - I'm pretty sure the '97 didn't have a transponder, etc, in it, so would I be able to go somewhere other than a Honda dealer to get a new key made? I asked in another Honda forum that I am a member of, but apparently my question was beneath them o.O
Do you have a spare at least as in some thing for them to copy ?
afaik you really can't just "make" a key with out having the orginal to copy i may be wrong there.
But if you do have the spare the key it's self is 5$ at the honda dealer and they'll cut it for free ! at least mine does....just bring your ownership and ID.

You do not need a spare to make a direct copy of the key.
Go to a Honda Dealership with your registration for the vehicle. They will use your vin # to lookup the key fitment and can make you an exact copy that way. $15 a key here unless your on the discount program and then it's $10.

Now that's a price I can deal with! In the other forum I'm in, they were trying to tell me it's $200-300 to get a copy from Honda - I could buy a new ignition and door locks cheaper than that! Thanks for the quick response - I think this forum is going to replace the other one as my 'main' Honda site!

I'd change the ignition tumbler... I hate thieves. I'm see alot of honda dudes watching my car when I working on it.... You'll either change the tumbler or install a hidden kill switch after replacing that key.

If you aren't full of it, and they were indeed stolen, from work, you have more to worry about than just getting a replacement key...
Hopefully my comment isn't "beneath you", and you understand what I'm trying to tell you.

Found out this morning that my missing keys were a 'prank gone wrong' - One of the new kids that were just hired thought it would be funny to hide my keys inside a box of scrap wood (Which ended up going in the dumpster last night, and the kid was too afraid to say anything) :-(
At least I don't have to worry about someone getting into my car, and robbing me :-/

He got canned earlier this morning - He was just a kid, I think he's 17 or 18, but I guess the past two days he's been pulling **** like that on the whole crew, but it figures that I'm the only one that had the keys gone forever :-/
