How much is a 01' PY Type R that has been sitting worth?
My friend's(RIP Cheeze) dad is wanting to sell his car and I had the semi crazy idea that I would possibly buy it but the problem is that it's been sitting for a while without it being driven on a regular basis. Right now is doesn't even start because the starter is shot. What kind of things would I have to replace/inspect and what's the value as it sits? How much more ontop of the asking price am I going to have to invest? Mileage on the body is like 120k I believe and the motor was rebuilt by DonF and made around 215whp. Tein flex all around. Stock wheels..not too much done to the exterior.

hmm..I would say 3-4 years. It's been 5 years since he passed. The first year they did drive it a little to and from his work.
What are they wanting for it. or what are you offering. i mean it was their sons who passed away so offer what you think if fair or what they are wanting for it. dont screw them over they were already screwed over by loosing their son.

They want 8500. Well of course I don't wanna low ball them. He was like a brother to me and I helped tie up some loose ends by selling stuff he had left over after he passed. The only reason I would want it now is because I want it to remain in the neighborhood. But then again I don't want a money pit either. It's been sitting so I'm afraid of bad brakes/lines..old fuel, sticky valves, etc.
Drain fuel tank. Prime with fresh fuel. Change oil. Change plugs. Lube the head and rotate by hand. Should be good to go.
<<<<Looking at a py thats been sitting 3 years as well.

From this response I'm thinking it's worth at least around that much. I guess it would be best if it went to someone that will bring it back to life properly. Gonna see if my friend that's still in the scene can help me sell it for the parents.
Wow I remember returning that car to the owner after it was reported stolen. How time flies and may he rest in piece. 8500 is a great price. I would pay that for the condition that it is in. Car runs great and has a clean title. It will be a quick sale. ITR's are a dying breed.

Yeah its me. Truly a trajic loss. Great guy. Glad to see the car still in one piece. Send my condolences to the family for me. Do you know what did they do with the model R that we gave them with our signatures. I hope everything works out and the R finds a great home. I recently purchased my second Type R. Be safe and stay in touch.
