1st, why would you ever want to do the F22? F22 is a plan to fail.
What you will have to do is make the new motor obd1 or make the car obd2
I would just make the motor obd1.
Use the injectors and intake manifold from the original motor on the new one. This will bolt up the the old tranny or if you are putting a new tranny in, that is fine too. Pretty easy.

I'm asuming your girls car is a 5speed?? the lx tranny will bolt up but will still be a dawg cuz of the gearing...

the entire d16y8 will bolt up just fine....use the y8 intake and exhuast manifold......all you'll use off the old motor will be the injectors and you'll have to wire up some stuff to stay obd1.....the y8 distributor wiring will change and you'll need to add some wires for the vtec, and you'll have to run a p28 ecu (D16z6 ecu) then everthing will work just fine.....

I'd get an ex tranny at the same time.......z6 intake manifold if possible and header.....you'll see a big difference....
