I actually did all mine by hand, which was a real pain in the ***. If I was doing anymore carbon work, I definitely would have been bagging it!

Yea there's lots of write ups and you tube videos it cost about id say about $175-$200 in materials and takes a bit of practice and lab or. This is a skining process which is nit the conventional way most carbon pieces are made cause that is done using a vacume method to get that smooth finish but that requires a mold to set the lip in then covered in plastic and you vacume the air out while vacume sucking in the resin. Similar results can be achieved using multiple coats of resin then wet sanding using various grades of sand paper to get it smooth and flat then fallow with a coat if clear coat or polish using polishing compound. The comment above referring to it looking ugly is because for one I didn't use the vacume method and two he must be looking at the pics of it when it just got its resin coats. The pic with it installed on the car was when it was wet sanded and cleared and as you can see looks pretty good if you ask me compared to the look if his seibon hood. I did recommend to the guy another layer if clear resin for a smoother finish but he didn't want to pay for it so I did the best with what he gave me. The trick is to layer the resin lightly multiple times to work up a good thickness other wise you get a texured Feel if you don't get enough resin layered on. To get it smooth and flat use 220 grit and wet sand with a small block and work your way to 800 grit it will get nice and smooth then give it a polish or clear coat.

Well you need more materials and a vacume pump and it requires a mold to set it in which is Why I just skipped all that. Search how to make carbon fiber parts. They sell the kits as well with the vacume and all the stuff you need on certain websites that are linked to the videos. There's a video that shows how to make your own cf hood refer to those videos and others. If your local in sd I can do it for you for a small fee but its allot of work but nothing you can't do in your garrage.
