Default neptune then to crome?

So im going to start off with this, i don't post much on here but i do read up alot and have done research before asking this.

I have a 95 honda eg coupe (ex), it has been swapped for a ls b18a engine with a vtec harness which i don't know if it matters or not. Anyway, i would like to have a set rev limiter on it and a good sounding launch control.

A friend of mine has a burn2 an has crome on his computer and made the switch from obd2 to a chipped p28, which is what i think i have, but my sticker is gone off mine.

The guy that owned my car before me (1 or 2 owners ago) told me the ecu may have been tuned with neptune. Also my ecu has a sticker that says "Rich Tuned" on it.

So, my question is, IF the ecu is tuned with neptune and i pull the chip out and load it into crome to set a rev limiter and a 2 step launch control will it mess up the map?

again im a complete newby when it comes to the tuning stuff so please take it easy on me.

If it does have NepTune you won't be able to open the file in Crome since it's not a Crome or stock file. If you bought the vehicle with the ECU you can go to the original dealer, you can upgrade to the RTP to make your own changes, or you can switch to Crome completely.

To expand upon what HRTuning was saying in more detail - IF it is NepTune you will need a license and such (essentially the tune is lost for good). If it is CROME and you can open the file (assuming it isn't pass coded) then you can just make changes. Worst case just reburn the chip to whatever you desire with CROME and call it a day. This is your cheapest and easiest solution to your problem (aside from the added problem of running CROME in the first place haha).

On a side note you can just pull the cover on the ECU and see what board you have for sure if you are concerned about it.

This picture shows where another sticker should be for ECU identification. Look at the top left corner of the ECU: (That pic is OBD-0 but you get the point.)

More info to read up on...

There is more where that came from too. There is TONS of information on all of this. You just have to take the time to search and read up on it.

No, the tune is not lost for good. If he bought the vehicle with the ECU and it was tuned on NepTune he can go to a NepTune dealer for changes.

Any dealer? Or you must find the original dealer as you said in your first post?

It's easier to go to the original since they can verify the license exists. Going to another dealer is fine, but they have to verify it's not just a copy.
