Well mostly in the moring when i start up my car it starts nasty like its runnin on 3 cyclinders but when i start to drive it like in 10 seconds it goes back to normal.Any idea what it is?got new spark plugs/wires,distributor cap. but no idea. it happens throghout the day to when i start it up. and at stop lights the rpm is like at 400 instead of 700.Any help would be great its a 1996 Honda civic Dx

 

Is the check engine light on?

 

Low idle problem?

 

no check engine car doesnt run bad long enough to throw out a code, got new IAC valve few months ago, washed it like 2 weeks ago too

 

Rotor?

 

ive actually replaced them like a month ago when i was having other problems,they were used but in working order, ill check under my cap tomorrow see how everything is doin...ive had the problem for a few weeks and wasnt that bad but recently i lowered my car on coilovers and it seemed to increase my problem, i couldnt see how that would effect it

 

ignition control module? if this were me, I'd got the voltmeter out and check the ICM and ignition coil too.

you said lowering your car made it worst... the ride is stiffer so your car is vibrating more which would cause a change in something that is loose like a wire or connector and if its shorting or grounding out then i guess that lowering your car could possibly make things worst.

 

i would think it is a loose wire or connector because i had the same problem before. my tps wiring to ecu was weak because when i lightly pulled the tps wiring (in engine bay) w motor running, my car almost stalls. i replaced the connector and wiring between the tps and ecu and the problems stopped. just check every wires by lightly pull or tapping to see if your motor acts differently then youll know that wire is bad. hope ur able to find the problem!
