Dibs on the second and the last one LOL. How much do these usually go for? Never even heard of IAAI.

They all have potential. Four out of the five really aren't that bad.

How much would a shell like that first one go for realistically? Will probably be in the market in a few months and I have a GSR with everything ITR that could be thrown into that, powerplant and all. Basically was planning on finding a shell like that CW ITR and selling off my GSR as a shell.

Agreed but does anyone know what they would go for in the auction?

Really the three PY ones are surprisingly complete, and would not be a hard rebuild. The CW one is so far gone that it would take more than it's worth to bring it back.
As far as prices go, it just depends on how many people are bidding, and if the insurance companies have any kind of reserve on them. Might be able to get the PY ones for between 3 and 5K, maybe less.

Generally people will buy them. But there is also the situation I wound up in where they had it listed as "Wait Certificate", but never got paperwork, or owner to pick up, so then it would be sent to a dismantler, who will then lien sale it and part it out / crush it / sell it.

I called on the one in Phoenix a while back and they said just waiting for the paperwork still. The key thing is when they say "being set up for abandonment".

Thats a shame (N)

Even a Type R shell would make a good (although expensive) place to start if someone wanted to build a track/race car.

Either way, savable.

Take a look at my thread "How I wound up w/ 97-0092". I set a budget, and so far am under.

The front end damaged ones would be a perfect candidate for a RHD front clip. It's much easier to get a full RHD front clip than it is another LHD ITR clip. I'd love to save one, preferably the black one.

These cars do not sell cheap by any means. I've purchased plenty from iaai/copart and you would be surprised on the final sale prices than don't forget buyer fees and shipping. I purchased my 98 CW itr from copart and my 02 s2000 from iaai. You can register and watch the cars sell to get an idea on sale prices. 01 itr last week on copart had a pre bid of over 5100 and it was crashed pretty well in the front. The prices are fair though once car is fixed and you realize final price is less than a comp clean title car.

Good info, will definitely keep in mind! How does the title work btw? You get a salvage title from all of these correct?

All depends on the state. Each state has a different way of saying the car is rebuildable meaning fixable to be on the road or is just a parts title or could be a track car. The whole process is not hard. The car would need to be inspected by your local dmv where upon passing would get a rebuilt title issued.

From my 15 years of buying/selling cars i noticed that it really comes down to whos attending/ bidding at the the action that day. ive bought cars cheap thinking they would go for alot but there just werent alot of buyers that day. raining days work great too even tho alot of bidding is done online. i bought one my itr's for $2,000 plus fees running & driving just missing some bolt ons. and $400 for a stripped out shell .ive seen some shells go for $3k because two guys were fightning for it
