Icon2 2000 Honda Civic EX ATF Change Help

I have 2000 Honda Civic EX with an automatic transmission. It has 165,000 miles on it. I wanted to get the transmission fluid changed but I'm very confused as to what brand I should use. Should I use Genuine Honda transmission fluid (ATF DW-1)? Or should I use Red Line D4 ATF? Or should I use Red Line D6 ATF? What's the difference between the D4 and the D6? Which one should I use? Is there something better I should use instead? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Don't question it, use OEM fluid for reliability reasons. BTW, if you ever noticed some part store serviceable fluids say "Not for use with Honda's" .

Honda ATF.

Are you going to opt for a drain and fill or a (machine) flush and fill?

I use Castrol ATF for imports, including Honda.

My Honda Technician told me how to do a home flush. Need a buddy to help.

You drain and fill the transmssion first, on mine it's between 3 and 3.5 liters. Then you disconnect the return line from the top of the transmission, have your buddy start the car and shut it off after it pumps out 1 liter, add 1 liter to the transmission, start the car and drain 1 liter and turn the car back off, then add another liter of fluid.

He said for my old D series tranny it would take about 8.5 liters to do a full DIY flush.

Once done, reattach the return tube to the transmision.

You should be able to do the same thing with yours.
