Default Alternater Problem 05 Honda Accord

2005 Honda Accord EX 2.4, 4 cylinder..

My wifes car has just started making a noise, kinda like a static noise from the alternater, and the battery light is on.. The noise will go away if you unplug the wire harness, and start back when you plug it back in.. The light will occasionly go off when driving but not sure if the sound comes or goes cause you cant hear it while driving.. I just replaced water pump and I removed the alternater to make more room and while it was of I had it tested twice and two different places and tested good at both place, well less than a week later this noise starts.. I took the belt off and turned the pulley seemed to turn smooth, Not sure if it has a clutch pulley or whatever, not really a car person.. But I put a small screwdriver into alternater and tried to turn both ways and could not... Can anyone help me with any advice, money is tight so I hope its somethin I can fix without buying new one or having to take it to someone.. I dont understand why the noise stops when you unplug the wire, so that tells me its not the bearings, it seems like it has a clutch or something but I dont know if it has one or not.. Im about to put belt back on and check voltage, I woulda checked it first but couldnt find my meter, but I just found where I had it hid, lol..
Any Help is appreciated, I work out of town and Im only back for one day(saturday) and I need to get it figured out and fixed befored I head back out..

A few things have me confused.....you stick a screw driver into the alt (?) and try to turn it.....was the belt still on the alt?

Can you put a screw driver on the alt and your ear on the other end and really tell if the alt is making the noise? It could be the belt tensioner?

I dont think its a good idea to stick a screw driver into the alternator...

Our alternator "tested" fine at parts stores too... but it was still bad.

Yes I had read somewhere that some alt have a clutch pulley and to check the clutch you stick a screwdriver to catch the fan so it will basicly lock it up so you check the clutch but I found out this didnt have one so that part was useless, but like I said Im not a car person, so all this is new to me, no the belt was not on or else I wouldnt be able to turn it by hand, it was not the belt tensioner I replaced it along with the water pump 2 weeks prior.. I had it tested two weeks prior also and it failed at one parts store dont think they had it hooked up right, it passed at another one then I took it to a alt rebuild shop and they also tested it and they said it tested better than a new one, it just stumped me that 2 weeks later it was acting up, and why it only made the noise when the wire harness was plugged in but stopped as soon as you unplugged the connector, I checked with meter and it wasnt charging so I just went And bought a new on and everything is fine now..
