I have 02 Honda Accord and one day I was driving on cruise control at 70mph. All of a sudden, I noticed my rpm go from about 3000 to around 6000+. My car started to slow down, so I tried to press the gas pedal to gain and maintain highway speed, but my car won't accelerate. Every time I pressed the gas pedal, my car would make some noise. It eventually came to a complete stop after a while. While I pulled over at the side of the road and lifted my hood up, there was smoke coming out from somewhere and I really couldn't tell from where. I didn't know what to do. I didn't even have money to tow and take it to a mechanic. I just let my car sit there for about 30-45 mins. Then, started the engine to see if my car would move. I put it to drive and my car started to run again. I still haven't had my car checked. Since that day, my car would jerk whenever I change my gear from Park to Reverse/Drive. Any thoughts on what could have caused this??
