D or B series for 250hp
[LEFT]Hey guys don't hate me for this post i'm new and i tried doing research about d vs b series but i haven't found a really clear answer to this question in precise.
i have a d16y7 in my civic (that is pretty stock except it has some aftermarket headers and an intake and it has 140k milage got it like that.)
i want to just get to 250 hp for now and be a little faster than an average car . would it be cheaper to buy a b series engine or stick with this engine and build it to 250 hp.
i'm just wondering because i'm a highschool kid with no job trying to make the best of my budget.

A Y7 can make 250, but it'll take boost and some forged internals. Since you're a highschool kid, I'm going to assume you don't know what quick actually feels like. A properly sized turbo (T28, Disco Potato, or 15G) can easily and safely get you to 200 on a good tune. That, plus some good suspension, and you'll be able to run circles around people.
Without a turbo, you would need a fairly build B swap, which is going to take your budget and **** it straight up the ***.

a turbo D will require bottom end work but would probably be cheaper then a b-series at 250. depending on how much you can do your self more potential later on with the b-series, and nothing beats the fun of 250whp N/A. budget op ?
I've got about 3.5K into my engine, it pushed 247/163 tuned on Hondata.
edit: no job...yah not happening lol just keep the car running right

In short, for your money, a D isn't going to do it.
A simple B swap won't be 250 hp, but should be able to get you enough performance to be happy. B20B/Z is pretty affordable for a swap and a good starting point if you want to build.

If money is tight, the only real option is a turbo D series. I would do a mini-me conversion (vtec head) and boost it using a simple turbo setup. Goals need to be limited to ~220-240whp if you intend on keeping the stock D series bottom end from eating itself.
