Default Not a Hond Guy

I'm all about American V8 muscle, but my v8s don't get gas mileage so I bought a civic. It's a 1984 civic 5 door hatch. Think it's a 1.5 (My other car has a 7.5, this engine sucks)
I bought this car for commuting to and from work, but I like to have fun. I want to throw on a turbo and maybe some NOS. Just wondering who's done this before, what the best turbo is, what kinda internals I should get. Everything to be safe and get maximum power. I know it's a long shot but I want this car to keep up with my 455 BBO. Or at least keep up with all the ricers in town.

You would be surprised at how many of us don't do or just own Hondas. Either way, just because you have a big block Olds doesn't mean it is fast (depending on car 13s or high 12s in something like a G-body but of course mods will heavily change things too). The car you bought isn't the best platform to start with in the ricer world either way. But of course people have ran turbos and nitrous (NOS is just a brand name) on these Hondas. Hell people were running 10's in the early 90's. My suggestion would be to go and read the FAQs in the forced induction and go from there.

84 is a difficult year - the suspension is nowhere near as advanced as the 88+ in the rear.
It's also not very supported by the aftermarket in terms of motor swaps, tuning options, etc.

You can do the usual nos and bolt-ons, but be forewarned that stock honda rings don't last long where nitrous is concerned.

A car that old I would keep stock and use it solely for commuting. Keep up on the maintenance and she will be good to you. If you want something you can dick with to add a turbo and nitrous buy a second generation CRX and throw either an H series or B series engine swap in it and build the **** out of those. Information about those swaps can be found everywhere around this forum.

I forgot to mention that I have a first gen CRX (86) and to do anything to it is way difficult due to the availability of parts not being made anymore. Eventually I'm going to put my D16Z6 with five speed in it with ECM and complete harness out of my civic but that's because I have everything for it already but to upgrade the suspension isn't as easy as buying the up grades.

My BBO is built a bit. full rebuild 15k ago, bored .030 over, heads been milled, highrise intake, 10:1 compression, 850 cfm edelbrock, few other things.... its in a 1981 caprice and mated to aTH400. It's faster than my 94 Camaro z28 with the LT1.
I'm not looking at keeping anything in the engine stock so don't worry about the stock Honda rings lol. I want to know What I need in order to build the motor to hold up to a turbo and nitrous... I'm probably gonna end up buying another block and building it outside of the car until it's done. My insurance is crazy, I couldn't afford buying a CRX just to screw around with, I already have this one so I figure, why not?
