Honda "B" engine trans gears interchangeability
I would like to know if it is possible to exchange the various gear ratios in the common transmissions used for the "B" series transmissions - S80, Y80, Y1, YS-1, etc?
Application is land speed racing, and I may need to make a number of gear swaps. I need the first 2-3 gears to be relatively tall, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th pretty close together so at top speed, there isn't much rpm drop between gears.
I'm thinking something like:
1st 3.23 to
2nd 1.90
3rd 1.458
4th 1.107
5th somewhere about .925-1.0
and final drive 4.23 or 4.4
Thanks,
Jeff

I would start with an Hydro LS tranny to build off of.....
power level, tire size, rpm powerband, goal mph are all need to figure gearing.
MFactory offers a 4.00 FD setup as well as a steep 3.47 FD
