Default Civic Lost Power

ok so i have a 97 civic ex so this morning i noticed that my heater was blowing weak but i didnt think too much of it so than 15 mins later my rpm and mph needles would drop and than bounce back up and my radio turned off for about 2 seconds so i turned the car off and attempted to turn it on but it just clicked as if i had a dead battery. on the 3rd try it was real weak but it cranked over and my battery light is on but dim and if i give it gas it goes away until i release the gas. and also when i give it gas and let go i hear a spooling sound coming from under the hood. i would appreciate every ones opinion on this please help!

Open the hood and look for the alternator belt loosen or damaged. If the tension and belt are good, took a voltmeter and check your battery volts.

1- Whit the engine off you should have 12-12.6v at battery terminals

2- Engine idle 14-14.6v at battery terminals

The spooling sound can be a bad alternator bearing, a loosen or damage belt is more a squeal.

Your alternator is shot. Have it tested to verify, then replace it.
