f22b2 "boost"
Hello All, I have the f22b2. Im slowly working on it, i am wondering though since i am non vtec why is it when i hit around 3500rpm i get a little bit of a "boost"?
it feels like a vtec kicking in.

That is the power range of the engine. The intake, camshaft, cylinder head and exhaust are all designed to hit peak hp @ 5300rpm and peak tq @ 4200rpm. 3500rpm is when she starts to ramp up.
If you start modifying your engine, with a CAI, header and exhaust you will find that 3500rpm boost will move up or down according to your modifications. I always loved that boost feeling with my B2 between 3500 - 5500rpm. With a 5 speed trans, header, intake and exhaust, it made it really fun to drive.

As Ghost stated, powerband. The power coming on feeling is exacerbated due to the tall gearing of the Accord transmissions. Just moping around in the lower revs and normal shifting the car feels like a 'boring' sedan. Downshift to pass someone on the freeway into the powerband range the fun occurs.
Verify timing belt and base ignition timing are correct. Retarded timing of the cam or ignition may also cause a lag and boost feel.
