So I think Ive put the wheel search on hold until next winter when I can afford the set I really want. BUT, I'm still going to get some super sticky rubber for her this season. The tires on her now are on their way out and I'm looking for a really good grippy tire.
This R is NOT my DD.
Will only be driven on nice/dry days
Looking to get a 205/50/15 most likely
It is currently riding on stock suspension with 1" H&R drop springs.
Thinking about some along these lines possibly, but looking to see what you other R owners have or think.
Kuhmo Ecsta XS KU36 - http://www.kumho.com.au/blog/products/ecsta-xs-ku36/
or
Advan A048 - http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/detail/advan_a048
If you have gotten tires in the past year or two, let me know what kind/size you got, and what you think of them.

What do you plan on doing with the car?
Here is a great thread on non R-comp tires.

Last year in 205/50/15 I tried the Kumho Ecsta XS and eventually settled with the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 as my HPDE tire.
In 225/45/15 I did a few events on the Hankook R-S3s which gripped well just got a bit squirmy at the end of sessions once they were heated up. On the street they were really sticky and kicked up a lot of rocks which made quite a bit of noise. I currently have the BFGoodrich G-Force Rivals in 225/45/15 which I am going to try this year. Have only heard good things about them.

A perfect response. Thank you. I will look into some of those right now.

The Khumo XS are solid tires and on the lower end of the price range for Extreme Performance Summer tires. RE-11's are my top choice for track, but if you aren't tracking any of the tires from the EPS category will be more than sufficient for the street. FYI there is a deal on RE-11's going on here:

Do you have any plans to drive the car in low temps?

Extreme Performance Summer tire... got it... lol
I mayyyyy hit Limerock once or twice this year for a HPDE but Im not buying tires based on that possibility. I want a amazing tire that holddd the road on the days its nice enough to take heR out.

I recently just purchased my tires from this site. They have OEM dealerships that check and make sure it's the correct size/model for your car.

The Re11a's would definitely be my top choice. Comparable to the bfg rival and dunlop z2 in the dry but better in the wet in the event you were ever caught out in the rain.
Khumo XS for me worked well for me (16in in my case) but will eventually get squirmy after long, hard driving. I can tell you this though, works well in the rain. I'll edit this post later with a link to a video of mine.
I love the Kumho Ecsta XS. Has seen some track time as well as street use and they hold up well and are very grippy (if that is a word). They also let you know way ahead of time before they loose grip, not like some tires that you have perfect grip one second and then suddenly you have spun.
They work even better with traction control (Hondata) as power is cut to limit slip which keeps them from getting squirmy to begin with.

I think its between the XS or the RE11. Im going to order them next month so maybe someone will have a deal going or maybe still for those RE11.

Jump on those RE11's on sale! Great deal if you don't have to pay tax. I have heard people say that the RE11A is the newer compound which actually lasts longer but has less grip. Not sure if that is truth or people making things up tho!
I'd go with the ZII.
if you want some more info, you can always check my replies in the following tread as I gave a detailed review about the product:

But I agree with all of the other suggestions here so far as well.

Thanks! Got mine RE-11's in today!
re-11's in that size that my buddy had on the R before i got have been nothing but magic. sad to hear they discontinued them and changed the tread pattern. looking at getting the yokohama s.drive's to see how they grip when the temps warm up
I woudn't say discontinued, just replaced by the RE-11a's. The A's are a slightly different compound with higher treadwear. The S Drives are a good tire but completely different tire category, so I wouldn't compare the two.
