nitrous n/a block sleeving question
Not sure if a high compression motor on nitrous counts as all motor but its technically not forced induction right?
So heres the deal in the next month I plan on doing more work to my currently all motor b20 vtec and I need to know if I need to sleeve the block. This is my current build along with the upgrades i plan to do.
Currently:
Block:
B20z block bored to 84.5mm
Stock sleeves no block guard
Wiseco 11.3:1 pistons
Eagle h beams
Lightened ls crank
Acl bearings
Morosso 4qt oil pan
Head:
B18c1 head
Ferrea flat faced valves
Titanium retainers dual springs
B16 cams
Victor x manifold
Blox 68mm tb
Ebay 4-1 header and exhaust
Plans:
Just ordered plm toda rep header
Just ordered blox 2.5" adjustable test pipe
Just ordered 70 mm skunk2 mega r exhaust
Want to use skunk2 ultra street mani
Skunk2 70mm alpha tb
Skunk2 pro 2 cams
And direct port wet nitrous
Was gonna do a 100 shot unless I can do more without sleeving. Will sleeve if I have to. Any suggestions, reccommendations guys?

It is considered forced induction, as it utilizes forced chemical reaction to change characteristics. There's even a nitrous sub-forum on the FI forum.. so head there.
100 shot of juice on a ~180 hp engine is a lot! especially on already known weak sleeves... I'd surely sleeve it to protect your investment cause its not a matter of "if" it pops, its "when"
Thanks. Im now considering staying all motor on my stock sleeves and building more with cams and such and getting a bare block to sleeve and workn on a turbo build while still having a daily
Nitrous can be a great tool in the right hands. The biggest problem we see all the time is people not understanding nitrous and its effect on motors. If done correctly and used correctly you will not have any issues, that means dialing in your system, fuel, ignition, plugs, pressure, delivery all play a big part. Worst part is the addiction of using it . You can start with a smaller shot if your not comfortable with the 100 and work your way up but you will need to learn to read those plugs. Matter of fact the car on my avatar is a nitrous B20B we tuned on nitrous that got sooo much abuse and never had a issue.

Currently I'm 85mm, stock sleeves.
Car has seen over 20+ shots of a 100 shot, single fogger, I just put in the pills for a 175. With the right tuning, nozzle placement, and correct plugs, as well as proper combo of parts, nitrous is by far, the best modification a all motor guy, can do.

i'm currently running 85 bore stock sleeve b20 (with Block guard) with 11:1 pistons boosting 15psi and makes 490whp. (on E85) same setup for 2 years running strong. drive it on the street also.
DDTECH is correct however one thing I always tell customers is nitrous works best in experienced hands. Just cause DDTECH has successfully ran that amount of N2O for that amount of time doesn't mean joe shmoe can . Op if you have a capable tuner have him set you up on a smaller shot and work your way up while learning to read plugs and learning what the bottle fed motor likes. The B20 we recently did was a simple setup. Stock bottom end( leakdown and in a very healthy condition) full cylinder head package supertech springs retainers SI valves BCrower cams tuned on a Safc and pressure regulator. Very solid and conservative tune based of customers driving habits ( he's a hot head who tends to race his shadow) sure enough first time with a bottle and finished the first fill almost the same night. He probably drove his car home squeezing the whole way once it came off the dyno.
Most overlooked thing with nitrous is consistance with bottle pressure..
Reading spark plugs are something alot of "tooners" dont know how to properly do.. so be careful with who you choose as your tuner.
I'll say this, The motor tune, is just as important as tuning the actual nitrous, i have neptune controlling everything, i dont worry about ****. The motor is fully tuned, and then i have the nitrous control take care of everything..
I'm going to push the limits of this motor because its what i built it for, but there's alot of misinformation about "sleeves" being weak.. thats just Godawful annoying to hear "internet" mechs gurus who have no real world experince on hand.
Wow I really appreciate all the info on nitrous! I want to sleeve for peace of mind but maybe will wait and see. Ill admit im kind of a hothead too sometimes. I do know that if I do nitrous I will do direct port. Dont want too much going tonone cylinder and not enough to another and inconsistency with the fogger. Just to be safe. Not saying fogger is bad!
I think my next upgrades will be as follows:
Toda spec B cams
Port and polish
Ultra street manifold ported
New intake (havent decided type)
Gsr transmission
And nos wet kit direct port 75shot to start
Havent decided whether or not to sleeve
Definately will be getting an excellent tunenbefore spraying

I ran 125 shot on a B20 block for quite awhile and I had a friend run more for years. I've also seen stock sleeves split with just simple 220hp all motor setups and nothing jumping out in the tune that looked like it caused it. If you are spending a bunch of money to build the motor, spend a little more and get it sleeved so that you can throw what you want at it and not worry about it.
