5th gen prelude idle issue
Hey guys a while back I was driving my prelude down the highway and it just shut off and didnt want to turn over it sounded like **** like it was running on 2 cylinders. Before it shut off on me the exhaust got really quiet like you could barely hear it and i have a 3.5 inch apexi n1 exhaust on my car so I could really tell the difference in the exhaust note. I had to have it towed back and right after it got off the bed it started right up no problem. But now its been sitting in my garage because I can't drive it far because once the car warms up the idle drops way too low and will stall out. It sounds perfect when I start it up and runs fine until it does warm up but then it will start to shudder and stall out when its warm. So far I've replaced the cat because I had a misfire code and that seemed to fix my misfiring problem. I've cleaned the egr throttle body iavc checked all the wires and I still can't figure out whats causing this if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great thanks guys.
If it starts and runs fine cold, its probably not an electrical issue. You said you cleaned the IACV, and EGR valve already.
Try cleaning out you're MAP sensor, on 5th gen ludes vacuum controls the timing adjustment. The distributor is in a fixed position and cant be manually adjusted like most others cars/lude's ignition timing.
Give that a try and see if it helps, I just woke up so my mind isnt at 100% but cant think of much else that can effect it temperature wise. Maybe a bad FITV "fast idle thermo valve", there like a choke on a lawnmower for you're car.
Anyhow good luck and let us know if there is any progress!
