EJ8 Quick Fuel Tank Question!
Wassup Honda heads, I'm going to be replacing the fuel tank on my 97' Civic EX coupe soon and I was wondering if any of you have done it yet and could give me a quick heads up on bolt sizes that are probably used, and/or tips you might have learned when removing sensors and such? I know how to do it, but I haven't done one on this car and I want to make sure there aren't any surprises coming to creep on me! Any help is always cool.
I could only check so much without lifting it because of this shitty weather we've been getting in RI lately haha.

WD-40&pb blaster the socket sizes you'll need are 10,12 and 14mm. a 2nd pair of hands helps so ask a friend. Drain it first(obv) take out the fuel pump assembly then the rest is fairly simple.
- Remove the back seat and fuel pump access cover. Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections but leave the pump and sending unit in the tank.
- Drain the tank if there's much gas in it. There's a drain bolt near one corner. 17mm if I remember correctly.
- Remove the bolt and drop the tank. This is easiest with a floor jack and a helper. You might want to buy a couple of the special bent bolts that go at the back of the tank if you live in an area where rust is a concern.
Figured it would also be good to add that it's smart to check the mountings for the straps that hold the tank in place before dropping it! Rust had mine destroyed! Thankfully my buddy had some fabrication magic to use! Feel free to add info in this thread if any of you guys do some fuel tank work on your 6th gen Civic!
