99 Prelude, Blown H22a4, K series swap ?
Hey all, Havent been in a long time but I'm back. I bought two cars from the local auction. 99 Prelude and a 04 CRV. Prelude engine is done, CRV was pretty much totaled for the idea of parting it. Is it possible to swap in a k24 into a 99 Prelude. I have all the supporting parts so I would assume so but I'm not sure, Hence why I'm here. =]
Any advice would be great.

You don't have all supporting mods. You need custom axles mounts shift linkage headers and harness some of which you can't even get for a prelude. Its possible, but you will find more support for a civic / integra shell.
ok, Well I can get pretty much any engine from the auction besides The h22.. its just a hard engine to get. Is there a more common engine to upgrade to ?
I say go for it! Its been done before a few times. Its just not common yet, Hasport i believe even makes engine swap mounts for prelude to K swaps. Wont be exactly bolt in and still cost a pretty penny. Unless you were boosting, you would be better off swappign in another H. Hmotorsonline.com have H series for a grand delivered most anywhere.
Well I spoke with the previous owner of the prelude and not only is the engine done. 2nd gear syncro is out as well.
So..Looks like it'll need an engine and trans replacement.
The k24 looks better and better by the minute.
Thanks for the advice and link Sparksman.

The Hasport kit is for the 4Gen Prelude, which has slightly different engine mounts than the 5Gen. You can use the 4Gen kit, but you'll need do make some modifications to get the kit to work on the 5Gen. K Series engines and transmissions still seem to be quite expensive, especially for the more desirable setups. I really wanted to go with a K series on my track car, but settled on a turbo H setup.

Got the car from IAAI, Id have to buy another 97-01 prelude that ran and drove to sponser this one. How great is the need for prelude parts other than the engine and trans of course if I deceided to part out the lude ? I Have $2000 in it.
I've been parting a 98 and not too much interest.. Had more on my del sols.. But as I said get a j series and swap it in then the interest level will jump up. Not as expensive as I swap neither
Gotcha, I searched a bit but didnt find too much info on whats needed for a J swap. Didnt see anything about it in the stickys or engines swaps.. all hybrid h22/h23 stuff.
