Hi,

I just change my PCV valve on my Accord 1996 EX (canadian car).
When looking into the hole , I can see some oil residu about 1 or 2 mm thick.
The residu is on the plate that is under the valve cover. I took a picture of the residue :





Is that normal ??? Will that sludge will clog my PCV valve ?



I would like to add that I just replaced the spark plug seals as well as the valve cover gasket. And the the rocker arm is clean, no sludge , no residu
It looks similar to this one (not my engine):




and the underside of my valve cover was similar to this (not my engine) with that brown coating that I cleaned with brake cleaner.

 

Looks normal to me. If the PCV valve is clicking it is working. You could remove the valve and clean it with carb cleaner.

 

Well, I already clean the PCV valve with brake cleaner but after couple days, it was clogged again, it doesn't click when I was shaking it.

That 's why I changed for a new one.

 

Change the oil then.
