Hey Honda-Tech I currently own a 1999 Honda Civic Ex D16Y8. I need to replace my clutch soon but still haven't decided which one to get. I daily drive my car and plan on doing some bolt-ons, maybe push 250-300hp later on down the line so I want an aftermarket one. What clutch do you think will hold enough power and comfortable at the same time to daily. Clutch, Flywheel lbs, etc..

 

DO NOT buy a stupid puck clutch of your gonna daily it. The only clutch company I swear by is exedy. I run a exedy stage 2 pressure plate with stage one disk and stock flywheel in my k20 track car. And it holds up. Unless your going 400 plus hp you won't need anything more than that. If you buy a puck clutch it will wear fast. Very fast. And the Trans will come off again.

lol "maybe push 250-300 all motor"? You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. Just get an Exedy stock replacement clutch, and keep your stock flywheel - just have it resurfaced by a machine shop. A lightweight flywheel will negatively affect your driveability.

 

not all motor obviously, boosted. I meant ill be all motor for now but I want to do that later on down the line so I want a clutch that will be able to hold that

Don't waste your money on a lightweight flywheel, ESPECIALLY if you plan on boosting. Lightweight flywheels can actually lower ET's on a turbo car.

A stock bottom end D series is limited to about 200 WHP. Anything past that involves rebuilding the bottom end with forged parts.

 

I honestly don't think a lightweight flywheel will really make a difference. Especially a Fidanza. I've run nothing but a lw flywheel on my 600 hp k24 boosted drag civic. It holds up well. However I would not run anything but Fidanza. Any other lw flywheel forget it

 

I run a 6lb Fidanza on my D series. Yes, it makes a difference. Yes, it's noticeable. Yes, it makes driving below 30MPH suck donkey ***. And yes, it's bad for boost.

Uh, "like", or is? Fidanza's K20 lightweight is 8 pounds. You might want to double-check what you have under your own hood. Also, your K experience is insignificant. OP has a D. Fidanza's D series flywheel is entirely too light for low-speed driving.

 

My k series knowledge is insignificant? Are you kidding? What makes you an expert? So my flywheel is 8 pounds, you can't remember everything for Christ sake. I think your the idiot here. All I'm trying to say is I personally do not notice a difference. I have 2 k swap cars. Ones a k24 drag car, ones a k20 scca car. Please do not bash my experience if you know nothing about me.
